What Delivery Needs, and What It Costs

A tilt-bed truck slides a container off the back while pulling forward. That motion is why the space requirements are what they are.

Space

How Much Room the Truck Needs

These figures appear on every invoice we issue. They are not padded.

ContainerClear straight space in front of the spotTotal space including the truck
20 FT60 FT80 FT
40 FT90 FT130 FT

12 FT of Width

The whole way in, not just at the drop point. Gates, fence posts, parked cars and landscaping all count.

16 FT Overhead

Tree branches and low power lines stop more deliveries than tight driveways do. Walk the route looking up.

Hard and Level

Compacted dirt, gravel, asphalt or concrete. Soft ground after rain will bury a loaded trailer.

Cost

What Delivery Costs

Quoted by distance from Long Beach.

Enter your ZIP on the containers page and you'll see the exact delivery cost for your address before you talk to anyone. No fuel surcharge, no zone chart, no “call for pricing.”

We show the container and the delivery as two separate numbers instead of burying one inside the other, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

Multiple containers to one address are quoted per trip, not per container — two 20 fts often ride together.

Site Preparation

What to Have Ready on Delivery Day

Clear the Path and the Spot

Move vehicles, equipment and material off the route the day before, not the morning of. Trim branches back to 16 FT.

Mark the Exact Placement

Spray paint, stakes or cones. Mark which end the doors face. A container is hard to nudge once it's down.

Have Someone on Site

Someone who can make a decision if the plan has to change. Wait time is billable once the driver is on site and can't work.

Know Your Surface

If it's soft, put down plywood or gravel first. If the driver can't safely get in, the trip still costs.

Permits

Do You Need One?

It depends entirely on your city, and California has over 500 separate building departments that all read the rules a little differently. We can't answer this for you, and any seller who says they can is guessing.

Temporary, on a Job

Placement tied to an active permitted construction project is often allowed for a limited window without a separate permit.

Permanent Placement

Usually requires a zoning or building permit, and sometimes a foundation detail. Start here if it's staying.

Residential Lots

Many cities have setback rules and limits on visibility from the street. HOAs add their own layer.

Call your local planning department before you buy. We'll tell you what we've run into in your area. They're the ones who decide.
